Hi! My name is Kent Chapline. I’m a journalist in Dallas/Fort Worth, currently doing freelance projects.
Until March 2019, I managed the team that runs kshb.com, the news site for the Scripps-owned NBC TV station in Kansas City.
Before that I taught journalism at Texas Christian University and advised TCU 360, the school’s award-winning student media operation. While at TCU, my partner and I won a Knight Foundation Prototype Grant for our Photostreamer project.
I’m also involved in the industry: I co-founded ONA Dallas/Fort Worth and I helped run #wjchat, a weekly Twitter chat for digital journalists. And I’ve been an invited presenter at events put on by SPJ and other local/regional journalism organizations.
I’ve also done some freelance journalism work.
Before I started teaching I launched and then managed cbsdfw.com. And prior to that I produced local TV news in Dallas-Fort Worth, Oklahoma City, and El Paso.
